I have an acquaintance
Who wont leave me alone
Who has seen my joy and pain
Watched me grow and learn
and never left.
I have an acquaintance
I haven’t liked
I ignored and punished
Tormented and hated
But they never left.
As time went on
And days went by
She stayed by my side
In time I have learned
To love and appreciate her
To honor and respect her
For everything she has put up with
This acquaintance is no longer an enemy
This acquaintance is a friend.
This acquaintance is me.
